Elena Nevado BiographyElena Nevado’s brilliant canvases have burst onto the art scene with great
dynamism and power. Her stunning Andalusian horses gallop swiftly across her works in grand unison. Elena’s colors are intense and bold. The magnificence of her brushstrokes can be appreciated up close and from afar. She captures the mind and the spirit. In a word, her art is “breathtaking”. Elena began her artistic journey many years ago. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden, but has spent two decades in Andalusia, Spain on a finca (rural farm or ranch) where she creates her passionate art and breeds her magnificent horses. “It is the dream of my lifetime,”comments Elena, regarding her opportunity to both raise and paint the horses she so intensely loves. In 1994, she visited the spectacular landscape of the Anza Borrego Desert in California, and it was there she discovered her spiritual connection to the land of the Native Americans and their Appaloosa and Paint horses. Using strong colors of red, bronze and turquoise, her oil paintings display her love of life with its dramas and heartbreaks. The many creatures she portrays symbolize various topics, e.g., the peacock – love and paradise; the eagle – strength and mystery; the horse – freedom and power; the owl – wisdom; the snake – wrong direction. While she loves Spain, and it has played a great part in Elena’s inspiration because of her devotion and love for her horses (her stallion Guapo XIV is featured in many of her paintings), her heart is also in America. Elena shows in galleries across the nation and enjoys having many followers and friends here. |
